A trivet, also known as a 'hot plate,' is placed between the discada and the dining table to protect the table from heat damage.
Trivet also refers to tripods used to elevate pots from the coals of an open fire. (The word trivet itself ultimately comes from Latin tripes meaning "tripod".) Metal trivets are often tripod-like structures with three legs to support the trivet horizontal in order to hold the dish or pot above the table surface.

It does what it does...
And does it well. It does hold my 22 inch disk very well. I use it to hold the disk when Im not using it, and will also use it if i need to take the disk off the burner and onto a table while it is still hot.

I almost did not get this when I ordered my Discada... didn't really think I'd need or use it. But now, I'm SO glad I did ! I don't use it every time I fire up my disk, but when I do it's nice to know it's there, ready, and plenty strong to do it's job. Simple, sturdy, and protects like nobody's business... a great investment ! If you've ever burned a counter or tabletop, you know exactly what I mean. Take my word for it... Definitely recommended !
