The Mighty Rio Grande - One of the longest rivers of North America.  The Rio Grande flows out of the snowcapped Rocky Mountains in Colorado and journeys 1,900 miles to the Gulf of Mexico. It passes through 800 foot chasms of the Rio Grande Gorge, a wild and remote area of northern New Mexico. The canyon provides a wide variety of recreational opportunities, luring fishermen, hikers, artists, and whitewater boating enthusiasts. Access in the upper canyon is restricted by the terrain, but several trails lead to the rivers edge. The two most popular whitewater segments are the Taos Box, 17 miles of Class IV whitewater, and the 5 mile Racecourse, a Class III segment. The lower canyon is paralleled by state roads, and receives the majority of the recreational use.
The Rio Grande and Red River designation was among the original eight rivers designated by Congress as Wild and Scenic in 1968. The designation was extended by legislation in 1994 to include an additional 12 miles of the Rio Grande. The designated area includes 60 miles of the Rio Grande from the Colorado/New Mexico state line to just beyond BLM's County Line Recreation Site, and the lower 4 miles of the Red River.

    Cowboy Wok - Impressive!

Posted by Maria on 26th Jun 2017

I bought the Rio Grande for my husband for Father's Day after hearing my co-workers talk about how wonderful they are to cook on. Let me start by saying it is HUGE! However, the extra room prevents you from accidentally tossing food out of the wok while cooking:) We have only used it once but it worked wonderfully! It is very nicely made. Very heavy and durable and I love the horse shoe handles! We plan on using it for camp outs to make large meals for everyone. I'm very excited to cook a breakfast in it. When I was trying to decide which size to purchase I was able to ask questions and get responses right away. I look forward to trying many different recipes and I'm sure we'll be using this for years! It was well worth the money.

My husband has been looking at these for over a year. I surprised him with it for Father's Day. Needless to say, he was thrilled! He used it the same day and it did not disappoint! I bought it with the cover and adjustable burner and very happy I did. This will be with us for every camping trip! Unbelievable quality! Worth every penny!!!

Ready to use out of the box!

    Posted by wgirten@joy.com on 19th Jun 2017

I'd been looking for a well made cooking disc for sometime now and finally ran across this one. I used it no later than 3 days after I received it and it worked wonderfully! I and my guests were extremely happy with the stir fry I made off of it and none went to waste. I'll take a little credit myself though. Easy to set up, easy to use, easy to clean...hard to beat. Very well made!

This disk is solid and the soldering is quality work as well. It's awesome that it's already seasoned and ready to go out of the box.

    IMPRESSED!!!

Posted by Kevin K on 14th Jun 2017

I have been pondering this for a while, and bought one for my birthday. Before shipping, David exchanged a few emails with me to make sure this was a good fit for me. Me being happy with the disk was more important than a single sale which speaks volumes about how he runs his company. It was shipped next day and arrived a few days later a couple states away. I have made some meals with it and I am very happy with how it does. I've made some faux stir fry and did some deep fry chicharrones. I've done some chorizo and eggs and it was FAST (my inside stove takes 8 minutes to heat a normal fry pan to egg sizzle level). There was a tiny amount of egg left behind, but it was way less than would have stuck to a new piece of modern cast iron. I know it will get better with age. I cook big meals, and the 24 inch had absolutely no problem holding 5 pounds of pork and 5 pounds of onion for my mongolian 'beef' (recipe on the thewoksoflife.com site is really good and tastes like restaurant version) I use this on a 30,000 btu camp chef double burner stove. My only negatives come from this and not the disk. The grates on my stove are not evenly spaced around the burner so the disk was not centered over the burner. I have solved that with a trip to the thrift store and picked up some round 'thingy' to function like a wok ring. For folks using a double burner camp chef, the other burner may be pretty much useless unless you use a griddle or tiny fry pan as the disk over hangs that space. I can't really complain about the second burner since this is a one-pot-meal kinda cooker, and it does that exceptionally well. I am sure this will last the rest of my life. I am equally sure i will use this as often as i can. I look for excuses to use it and my new jumbo utensils.

    Awesome and easy to clean

Posted by Unknown on 14th May 2017

Love that this comes pre-seasoned. Cleans up super easy. I just scrape out as much as I can, then heat on high and throw some water in. Just dump and wipe out. I do highly suggest two accessories. Get a cover. The seasoned surface seems to attract dirt in storage. Find a "wok spatula". It's a cross between a spatula and a shovel. The key is that the end is curved instead of straight. Let's you work with the curve of the disk much better.

You CANNOT go wrong with Southwest Disc

Posted by Jason on 12th Mar 2017

Worth Every Cent... the BEST Disc made in the area by far! The craftsmanship is incomparable to local competition in my opinion. Plus, as a Veteran.. I love supporting other Veterans. My neighbor recommended me to Southwest, he gives great advise. Best value per dollar for sure. The disc performs amazing and it was seasoned and ready to go from day one. 1st dish, Pork Chicharrones! I have cooked on it twice in the last week... Thank You Southwest Disc!
